Obverse description Bust of Duke Charles Emmanuel I facing right, depicted with laureate head and draped shoulders in the Renaissance style. The ducal effigy is rendered in profile with period-appropriate portrait detail typical of Savoyard hammered coinage. The encircling Latin legend reads CAR. EM. D.G. DVX. SAB. P. P., identifying the ruler by name and title as Duke of Savoy and Prince of Piedmont. The legend is distributed around the periphery of the flan in capital letters. The overall style is consistent with early seventeenth-century Italian hammered gold coinage.
