| Obverse description | Draped bust of Pope Benedict XIV facing right, wearing the papal camauro cap and mozetta with ornate embroidered collar, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail characteristic of mid-18th century Italian minting. The effigy occupies the majority of the obverse field, with the portrait truncation visible at the lower edge. A continuous Latin legend surrounds the bust reading BENEDICT XIV P M BONON A XVII, denoting his papal title, the city of Bologna, and the seventeenth year of his pontificate. The milled border frames the entire design with a uniform beaded edge. |
