Obverse description Draped bust of Pope Benedict XIV facing right, wearing the papal camauro cap and mozetta with ornate embroidered collar, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail characteristic of mid-18th century Italian minting. The effigy occupies the majority of the obverse field, with the portrait truncation visible at the lower edge. A continuous Latin legend surrounds the bust reading BENEDICT XIV P M BONON A XVII, denoting his papal title, the city of Bologna, and the seventeenth year of his pontificate. The milled border frames the entire design with a uniform beaded edge.
