| Reverse description | Central type depicts the Holy Spirit as a dove with outstretched wings, descending in radiant glory amid a profusion of elongated rays that fill the field — a devotional image invoking divine guidance over the College of Cardinals during the interregnum. Below the dove, stylised clouds or flames are rendered in the fluid Baroque manner. A horizontal ground line separates the central motif from the lower exergual inscription ROMA, identifying the issuing mint. The surrounding legend DA RECTA SAPERE, meaning 'grant us to know what is right,' encircles the upper field, invoking divine wisdom for the forthcoming conclave. The milled border of closely spaced beading frames the entire composition. |
