Obverse description A facing angel with spread wings occupies the center of the field, its head rendered frontally with visible facial features. The angel's body partially obscures a shield bearing two crossed swords, representing the electoral arms of Saxony. The design is executed in the bold, slightly crude style characteristic of late 15th-century German hammered coinage. A beaded inner circle separates the central device from the surrounding circular legend. The entire composition reflects the heraldic conventions of the Ernestinian branch of the Wettin dynasty.
