Reverse description A bold long cross extending to the coin's periphery divides the reverse field into four quadrants, each containing a Gothic letter or decorative element. An inner beaded circle frames the central cross design. The quadrants display the segmented legend MON - ETA - RVA - LIE, a standard abbreviation for Moneta Revaliensis, denoting this as coinage of Reval (modern Tallinn). The die workmanship is characteristic of late 15th-century Baltic hammered billon schillings, with the cross serving both as a devotional symbol and a structural design element.

Additional information

Wolter von Plettenberg became Master of the Livonian Order in 1494 and proved to be its most capable military commander — his victory over Russian forces at the Battle of Smolina in 1502 temporarily halted Muscovite expansion into the Baltic. These schillings were struck at Reval during the opening years of his tenure, when the Order still exercised meaningful political and monetary authority over its Estonian territories. The solid dot variety distinguishes this emission from closely related issues and is catalogued separately by Haljak on that basis alone.
