Obverse description A round shield bearing a plain cross patée occupies the central field, enclosed within a beaded inner circle surmounted by a small crown at the top. The shield and crown are rendered in a compact Gothic style typical of Livonian Order coinage. A circular legend in uncial Latin script runs between the beaded inner border and the coin's outer rim, reading MONETA · NO · REVALIE ·, denoting this as the new coin of Reval. The overall composition is characteristic of late medieval hammered billon schillings from the Reval mint.
