| Obverse description | Central field features the interlaced ducal cipher of John Frederick I within a beaded inner circle, flanked by the date 16-22 split across the field. The surrounding legend reads D·G·DVX·IOHAN· in Latin capitals, separated by ornamental stops, all enclosed within a beaded outer border. The design is characteristic of the Kipper period emergency coinage, executed in a simple hammered style with an irregular flan. |
