Obverse description Curvilinear Gothic shield bearing an episcopal monogram or initial device occupies the central field, struck in the hammered tradition of Livonian billon coinage. The shield is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A circular Latin legend in uncial letterforms surrounds the design along the coin's periphery, identifying the issuing bishop. The style is characteristic of late medieval ecclesiastical minting practice in the Baltic region.
