| Obverse description | Central shield with smooth sides and a flat top, bearing the arms of the Livonian Order, superimposed on a long cross whose arms extend to the inner border, dividing the surrounding Latin legend into four sections. The legend, reading clockwise, records the name and title of Heinrich von Galen, Master of Livonia. The date or date element appears within the legend field. The overall style is consistent with mid-sixteenth-century hammered billon coinage of the Baltic region. |
