| Obverse description | Crowned Spanish-style quartered shield bearing the arms of Bavaria and the Palatinate in alternating quarters, with a central inescutcheon displaying the crossed keys of Paderborn. The shield is surmounted by an ornate crown and surrounded by a Latin legend reading the abbreviated titles of Ferdinand of Bavaria as Archbishop-Elector of Cologne and Bishop of Paderborn. The design is executed in the bold, relatively crude style characteristic of Kipper-period emergency coinage. |
