Reverse description Central device displays the Teutonic Order's grand master's shield — a plain cross throughout on a quartered field — struck prominently within a beaded inner circle, the shield rendered in the characteristic flat heraldic style of mid-15th century Prussian hammered coinage. The surrounding legend in Gothic uncial characters reads MOnE - TA Dn - ORVM - PRVS, translating as 'Moneta Dominorum Prussiae' (Money of the Lords of Prussia), distributed in four segments around the central shield. The flan is irregular and the strike is typical of the hand-hammered production of the Teutonic Order's Prussian mint. The overall style is consistent with schillings issued under the administration of the Grand Master's chancellery at Marienburg.
