Additional information

Konstanz was hosting the Council of Constance from 1414 to 1418 — the largest ecclesiastical gathering of the medieval period, which ultimately resolved the Western Schism by deposing three rival popes and electing Martin V. The city's population swelled dramatically during those years, and local coinage production expanded accordingly to meet demand from thousands of visiting clergy, diplomats, and merchants.

Nau 11b distinguishes this variety from the closely related 11a by minor die differences documented by Eugen Nau in his corpus of southwestern German municipal coinage.
