Reverse description A rampant lion facing left, rendered in bold relief in the Gothic heraldic style, occupies the central field. To the left of the lion stands a vertically oriented heraldic shield bearing the arms of Saxony (barry of ten, or and sable). The lion's mane, tail, and musculature are vigorously stylized in the manner of 15th-century Saxon die-cutting. A circular legend in Gothic uncial lettering surrounds the design, enclosed within a beaded border.
