Obverse description The obverse displays a symmetrical arrangement centered on a rectangular cartouche bearing the denomination inscription in formal kaisho script. Two fan-shaped Kiri (paulownia) crests flank the central panel above and below, serving as the mon of the Toyotomi and later adopted by the Tokugawa Bakufu. A second rectangular cartouche below the central inscription bears the personal signature (kao) of the responsible Mint Official. The overall composition is characteristic of Edo-period koban design, with refined intaglio workmanship on a polished gold flan.
