| Obverse description | The crowned and armoured effigy of King Edward IV stands facing within a large warship, holding an upright sword in his right hand and a quartered shield of England and France in his left. A banner charged with the letter 'E' is displayed to the left of the king, and a large Tudor rose appears on the side of the ship's hull at centre below. The mast, rigging, and strakes of the vessel are rendered in fine detail, with stylised waves filling the lower field. The circumferential legend in Gothic uncial lettering reads: ED WARD DI GRA REX ANGL S FRAN DNS I B, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. |

A Tudor rose surmounts the centre of the cross, with radiating sun motifs visible in the angles. Trefoil ornaments fill the spandrels between the cross limbs and the inner circle. The circumferential legend in Gothic uncial script contains the biblical verse from Luke 4:30, with the word ILLORV appearing prominently, all within a beaded border. |
