Obverse description The obverse bears multiple lines of Arabic script in Nastaliq calligraphic style, arranged across the coin field and divided by a horizontal rule. The upper register contains the royal name and titles of Wajid Ali Shah, Nawab of Awadh, while the lower register carries additional regnal epithets. The legends fill the coin field from rim to rim, with further inscriptions continuing around the outer border.
