Reverse description The reverse presents three horizontal registers of Persian-Naskh calligraphy enclosed within a beaded border, each band separated by incised ruled lines. The uppermost register bears the name and titles of Tipu Sultan, the central register records the mint name Patan and additional regnal formulae, and the lower register contains the Hijri date and further elements of the sovereign's titulature. The script is boldly rendered in high relief consistent with the hammered technique employed at the Patan mint.
