Reverse description The reverse is entirely occupied by multi-line Arabic calligraphic legends arranged within a central circular field enclosed by a beaded border, with a continuous marginal legend encircling the periphery. The central field carries the Kalima Tayyiba followed by the names of the four Rightly Guided Caliphs — Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali — a characteristic feature of Sur Empire coinage asserting Sunni orthodoxy. Below these, the honorific epithet 'al-Sultan al-Adil' (the Just Sultan) appears, underscoring Sher Shah's claim to righteous rule. The outer marginal legend contains the mint name and regnal year information. The calligraphy is executed in a confident, robust Naskh hand consistent with the Chunar mint's known die-cutting tradition.
