| Obverse description | The obverse presents a densely composed field of bold Arabic calligraphy in the Naskh script, arranged in concentric registers within a circular cartouche framed by a beaded inner border. A small square panel occupies the upper central portion of the field, enclosing a floral or star-shaped ornament. The royal legend reading 'Sher Shah al-Sultan, may God perpetuate his reign' fills the central and lower fields in sweeping strokes. The periphery carries additional inscriptions in Nagari script, typical of Suri coinage intended to serve the diverse population of the Subcontinent. The overall die work reflects the distinctive hammered style of Sur Empire silver coinage, with characteristic irregular flan edges. |
