Obverse description Central field dominated by bold Arabic calligraphic inscription arranged in a cruciform pattern, bearing the name and titles of Amir Sher Ali Khan. The quadrants formed by the intersecting legends are filled with decorative rosette or pellet cluster ornaments. The AH regnal year appears at the bottom of the design. The strike is characteristic of hand-struck Afghan coinage of the period, displaying an irregular flan with slightly uneven relief.
