Obverse description Hammered silver flan bearing the Kalima (Islamic declaration of faith) inscribed in bold Persian-Naskh script across the central field, reading 'La ilaha illallah Muhammad rasulullah' (There is no god but God, Muhammad is the messenger of God). Below the Kalima, the names of the four Rightly Guided Caliphs — Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali — are arranged in two registers, a characteristic feature of Mughal coinage under Shah Jahan. The regnal year (sana) appears in the lower segment in Eastern Arabic numerals. The legends are arranged in horizontal bands divided by double-line cartouche borders, with a small floral or star ornament visible in the central field.
