Reverse description The reverse displays the royal superscription in Nastaliq calligraphy, identifying the issuing emperor as Shah Jahan and the mint city as Surat. The legend 'Sikka Shah Jahan Ra'ij Abad' occupies the upper portion of the field, while the mint name 'Zarb Surat' (struck at Surat) appears in the lower register. The inscription is arranged in two primary horizontal bands across the flan, consistent with standard Mughal rupee design. The strike is bold and typical of the Surat mint production under early Shah Jahan issues.
