| Obverse description | Central square cartouche bearing the imperial titles and name of the emperor in three lines of Nastaliq script: 'Badshah Ghazi Shah Jahan' in the upper register, flanked by additional regnal epithets in the surrounding field. The mint name Allahabad (Ilahabad) appears in the lower portion of the central panel. Marginal legends occupy the areas outside the central square, running along the coin's irregular flan, consistent with standard Mughal hammered coinage style. The script is bold and deeply struck, characteristic of Allahabad mint production during Shah Jahan's reign. |
