Obverse description Bold Naskh Arabic legend filling the field, bearing the name and titles of Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II, divided by a horizontal band across the centre of the flan. A trishula (trident) symbol — characteristic of the Maratha-controlled Balanagar Gadha mint — appears prominently in the lower field, accompanied by a crescent device. The hijri regnal year (AH date) is inscribed in the first type style, consistent with early issues of this mint. The overall layout follows the standard Mughal rupee format, with the inscriptions occupying both the upper and lower registers of the coin.
