| Obverse description | Hammered silver flan bearing two lines of Persian script in bold Naskh calligraphy, divided by a horizontal beaded line running across the field. The upper register carries the royal epithet and the lower register the regnal title of the Mughal emperor Shah Alam II, in whose name this Maratha-issued rupee was struck. A small floral or star ornament appears in the upper right field. The legends are contained within a beaded border encircling the entire coin. |
