Obverse description The obverse features the imperial Mughal legend arranged in three horizontal registers across the field, divided by incuse parallel lines typical of the hammered rupee format. The calligraphic Arabic-script inscription reads 'Sikka Mubarak Badshah Ghazi Shah Alam Bahadur', proclaiming the auspicious coin of the warrior king Shah Alam Bahadur. The bold Naskh-style lettering fills the flan to its irregular edges, with no portraiture, as befitting orthodox Mughal numismatic convention. The coin exhibits the characteristic uneven, slightly convex flan surface resulting from hand-hammering on an anvil die.
