| Obverse description | Central motif features the Sri Lanka state emblem enclosed within a rectangular frame, depicting the Lion passant with a sword, flanked by petals of the Blue Lotus, with a sun and moon above, and a pot of plenty below. Two lions rampant flank the top of the frame. The Sinhala legend 'ශ්රී ලංකා' appears to the upper left and 'CENTRAL BANK' to the upper right in the outer field. Below the central frame, the denomination is inscribed in Sinhala script and Tamil script with 'ONE RUPEE' in Latin script beneath. |
