| Obverse description | The obverse features the Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, depicted centrally with three lions visible above an abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra flanked by a bull and horse in relief. Immediately below the capital, the national motto is inscribed in Devanagari script: सत्यमेव जयते (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs'). The denomination numeral '1' appears in the lower field. The peripheral legend reads 'भारत' (Bharat) and 'रुपया' (Rupaya) in Devanagari on the left, and 'INDIA' and 'RUPEE' in Latin script on the right, all arranged along the coin's rim. |
