| Obverse description | The obverse presents a densely composed field of Persian-style calligraphic legend in Nasta'liq script, arranged in two horizontal registers separated by a fine linear band. The inscription occupies virtually the entire flan, rendered in a bold, flowing hand characteristic of Sikh-era coinage struck at Amritsar. Ornamental dot clusters and foliate scroll devices fill the interstices between letterforms, lending the field a rich decorative character. The design follows the Mughal calligraphic tradition adapted by the Sikh mint, with no figurative imagery. The irregular flan edges and slightly uneven strike are consistent with the hand-hammered production technique of the period. |
