Obverse description Multi-line Arabic inscription in the field, attributing the coin to Shah Mahmud, rendered in flowing Nasta'liq script. Small floral rosette ornaments are interspersed between and around the lines of text, serving as decorative dividers. The flan is irregular in outline, characteristic of hand-struck hammered coinage of the Durrani period. The overall composition fills the coin face with dense calligraphic text framed by the scattered floral motifs.
