Obverse description The obverse displays multiple horizontal lines of Arabic-script legend filling the entire field, inscribed in a bold calligraphic style typical of Durrani dynasty coinage. The central area bears the royal titulature of Shah Mahmud in Naskh script, framed above and below by decorative foliate borders composed of floral rosettes and bead-and-leaf ornaments. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan and slightly off-center strike common to hammered Afghan rupees of this period. The field is divided into three horizontal registers of inscription separated by linear borders. A stylized floral motif is visible at lower left within the legend field.
