Obverse description Hammered silver flan bearing the royal Mughal legend in three horizontal registers of bold Nasta'liq script, divided by raised linear bands. The central field carries the name and titles of the nominal sovereign Shah Alam II, while the uppermost and lowermost registers contain the mint name and regnal year. Small pellet ornaments punctuate the inscription registers, consistent with Maratha-issued rupees struck in the name of the Mughal emperor. The overall style closely follows the Mughal monetary tradition, with the field occupying nearly the full diameter of the coin.
