Obverse description At center, the Lion Capital of Ashoka (Sarnath capital) depicted in high relief, showing three lions atop an abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra (wheel) flanked by a horse and bull in profile. The state emblem serves as the central device of the field. The bilingual legend arcs around the periphery, reading 'भारत' (Bharat) to the left and 'INDIA' to the right in the upper field.
