| Obverse description | Broad flan bearing the imperial Mughal kalima-style legend in Persian nastaliq script, arranged across the field in two or three horizontal registers divided by a characteristic double-line cartouche. The obverse carries the full regnal title and epithet of Jahandar Shah, reading 'Abu al-Fath Muhammad Muizz al-Din Jahandar Shah Badshah Ghazi'. The script is boldly struck in high relief typical of hammered Mughal rupees, with floral or foliate marginal ornaments partially visible at the periphery. The coin exhibits multiple test or banker's marks (zarb) punched into the field, a common feature attesting to circulation and authenticity verification in contemporary trade. |
