Obverse description Left-facing bust of the Guangxu Emperor rendered in a stylized Tibetan-influenced manner, wearing an elaborate imperial crown with radiating ridges and a jeweled finial, and a richly ornamented robe decorated with foliate and beaded motifs. The portrait is contained within a plain field bordered by a toothed outer rim. The effigy, though issued in the emperor's name, displays an artistic style adapted for circulation in Tibet and reflects the influence of Indian rupee coinage of the period.
