Obverse description Central field bearing the royal legend in bold, deeply struck Nastaliq calligraphy arranged in two horizontal lines: 'Fath Jang Shah' in the upper register and 'Padshah Ghazi' in the lower, the title proclaiming the ruler as warrior-king. The inscription is framed by additional marginal legends curving around the periphery of the irregularly shaped flan. The die-work displays the characteristic bold relief of Kabul mint hammered issues, with ornamental floral or foliate devices visible between and around the primary text. The overall composition is typical of Durrani Empire rupees of the early 19th century, with the calligraphy filling the field in a dynamic, slightly asymmetric arrangement.
