Obverse description The obverse bears four lines of Persian calligraphy in the nasta'liq script, arranged within a plain circular border, reading from bottom to top. The central legend proclaims the imperial titles and name of Emperor Farrukhsiyar: 'Badshah Bahr-o-Barr Farrukhsiyar' (King of Land and Sea, Farrukhsiyar), followed by the Hijri regnal year partially rendered as '11XX'. The remaining legend reads 'Fazl-e-Haq bar sim-o-zar sikka zad az' (By the grace of God, coin struck in silver and gold). The script is boldly struck and occupies the full field of the coin in the characteristic Mughal hammered style.
