| Obverse description | The Ashoka Lion Capital, India's national emblem, is depicted centrally in the upper field, showing three lions mounted atop an abacus bearing relief animals and the Dharma Chakra. Immediately below the emblem, the national motto सत्यमेव जयते (Satyameva Jayate) is inscribed in Devanagari script. The country name appears along the left arc in Devanagari (भारत) and along the right arc in Latin script (INDIA). The denomination रूपया 1 RUPEE is rendered in large numerals and bilingual text across the lower field. |
