Obverse description The obverse features the Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, prominently displayed at center, depicting three lions passant above an abacus bearing a Dharma Chakra flanked by a bull and horse in relief. The motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs') appears in Devanagari script immediately below the emblem. The country name 'भारत' (Bharat) is inscribed in Devanagari to the upper left and 'INDIA' in Latin to the upper right, following the coin's circular border. The denomination '1 RUPEE' is rendered in a combination of Devanagari ('रूपया') and Latin script in the lower field.
