| Obverse description | The Ashoka Lion Capital, India's national emblem, is depicted at centre, showing three lions atop an abacus with animal reliefs, all rendered in high relief. Immediately below the capital appears the Devanagari motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs'). The denomination numeral '1' and the word 'RUPEE' in Latin script appear in the lower field, while the legend 'भारत' in Devanagari arcs along the left and 'INDIA' in Latin script arcs along the right. The design is framed by a beaded border. |
