Obverse description Central device features the Royal Nepalese Arms: an ornate cartouche enclosing a stylized shield with the Himalayan peaks and cow motif, surrounded by an elaborate decorative frame. The national emblem is rendered in low relief within a beaded inner border. A Devanagari legend encircles the design in the field, reading the royal title of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. The rim is bordered by a continuous row of raised beads.
