Reverse description The reverse displays a multi-line Nasta'liq legend arranged in horizontal registers across the irregular flan, recording the formal coin declaration, regnal year, and mint name. The upper register bears the auspicious formula 'Manus-i-Memanat', followed by the regnal year (sana) notation, and the lower register identifies the mint as Kashmir (کشمیر). Small decorative pellet or rosette ornaments punctuate the registers. The die-struck surfaces show the bold, raised calligraphic style characteristic of the Kashmir mint's output under Alamgir II.

Additional information

Alamgir II was emperor in name only — real power was held by the wazir Imad ul-Mulk, who had engineered his installation in 1754 and would eventually arrange his murder in 1759. The Kashmir mint remained active through this period despite the empire's accelerating fragmentation, with Afghan incursions under Ahmad Shah Durrani repeatedly disrupting northern administration. Kashmir itself changed hands between Mughal and Afghan authority more than once during the precise window this coin was struck.
