Obverse description Central field bears a multi-line Persian legend arranged in cartouche style, reading in Arabic script: the auspicious coin of the Victorious Emperor, chosen of the faith of Muhammad, Alamgir, with the regnal year 1172 AH prominently incorporated into the legend. The inscription is rendered in fine Naskh calligraphy and the entire design is enclosed within a toothed (dentilated) border.

Reverse description Central field contains a multi-line Persian legend in Arabic script recording the mint name and regnal year, reading: struck at Arcot in the 6th year of tranquil prosperity (Zarb Arcat sanat 6 julus maimanat manus). The inscription is arranged in stacked lines in the Naskh calligraphic tradition, referencing the Arcot mint with the frozen regnal year 6. The entire composition is enclosed within a toothed (dentilated) border.
