| Obverse description | The obverse bears a multi-line Persian legend in the Naskh script filling the central field, reading the royal titles and name of the Mughal emperor Alamgir II. The inscription, rendered in bold relief characteristic of hammered Mughal coinage, proclaims 'Sikka Mubarak Badshah Ghazi Aziz-ul-din Muhammad Alamgir' — the auspicious coin of the Victorious Emperor, Chosen of the Faith of Muhammad, Alamgir. Decorative pellet ornaments are visible in the field between the lines of legend. The legends are arranged in the traditional Mughal format with curved calligraphic strokes flowing across the flan. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan shape associated with hand-struck Mughal-style rupees. |
