| Reverse description | Square hammered silver flan with the imperial titles of Emperor Akbar inscribed in bold Naskh calligraphy across the central field in two registers: the upper portion bearing the regnal name and titles, the lower portion recording the mint name Patna (پتن) and the Hijri regnal year, either 987 or 988 AH (corresponding to 1579 or 1580 CE). A plain linear square border frames the central inscription, with further calligraphic legends continuing into the marginal band along all four sides. The bold, deeply cut lettering and irregular flan edges are consistent with the hand-struck production methods employed at the Patna mint during Akbar's reign. |
