Obverse description The obverse field is entirely occupied by a bold, densely composed Arabic calligraphic inscription executed in a vigorous nastaʿliq-influenced style, with the name and title of Emir Abd al-Rahman filling the central area. Small pellet rosettes are scattered throughout the field as decorative ornaments between the letterforms. The inscription is enclosed within a plain inner circle, beyond which runs a closely spaced radiating dash border that extends to the raised rim, creating a striking geometric frame characteristic of late 19th-century Afghan coinage.

Reverse description The reverse field is filled with a large, boldly rendered Arabic calligraphic inscription in nastaʿliq style, recording the mint name and Hijri date. The text identifies the place of striking as Dar al-Sultan Kabul, the capital city of the Afghan emirate, with the date 1303 prominently incorporated. Decorative pellet rosettes are distributed across the field between the letter strokes. The inscription is enclosed within a plain inner border ring, surrounded by the same characteristic radiating dash border found on the obverse, terminating at the raised rim.
