| Obverse description | The obverse field is entirely occupied by a bold, densely composed Arabic calligraphic inscription executed in a vigorous nastaʿliq-influenced style, with the name and title of Emir Abd al-Rahman filling the central area. Small pellet rosettes are scattered throughout the field as decorative ornaments between the letterforms. The inscription is enclosed within a plain inner circle, beyond which runs a closely spaced radiating dash border that extends to the raised rim, creating a striking geometric frame characteristic of late 19th-century Afghan coinage. |
