Obverse description Central field dominated by the tughra (royal cipher) of Amir Abdur Rahman Khan, rendered in elaborate interlocking calligraphic script. The mint name 'Kabul' appears in Arabic script above the tughra, while the regnal year in the Afghan solar calendar is inscribed below. The entire composition is framed by a wreath of olive or laurel branches, with a reeded border encircling the outer rim.
