| Obverse description | The left portion of the note is occupied by the circular state arms of Ceylon, rendered in intaglio on a fine guilloche underprint, showing the lion passant with sword above a sun and waves, encircled by the legend LANKA and surrounded by petals and a decorative border. The bank title in Sinhala script appears across the top, with the denomination in Sinhala and Tamil scripts, and the numeral 1 at upper corners. Two facsimile signatures appear at centre-lower, identified by their respective titles in Sinhala script, with the date printed within a multicolour floral rosette vignette at centre. |
