Obverse description Small-format emergency issue printed on pink paper, with the issuer's name in Gothic blackletter script arching across the upper portion of the note. The denomination ONE RUPEE appears in bold letterpress at centre, flanked above by the serial number and legal tender clause in italic script, with two facsimile signatures of the Commissioners of Currency beneath. The lower margin carries the inscription COMMISSIONERS OF CURRENCY PORT LOUIS alongside a second serial number and the date 27TH MARCH, 1942.

Reverse description Plain reverse printed in grey-green tones, dominated by the bold serif inscription MAURITIUS spanning the lower half of the note. At the upper centre, a rectangular guilloche panel encloses a bilingual denomination cartouche with the value rendered in both English and Hindi script. A serial number appears at the top within a decorative border, and a date line is visible at the lower margin.
