Obverse description The obverse presents a bold field of Persian Nasta'liq calligraphy arranged in three horizontal registers, separated by incuse linear borders. The central band bears the imperial name and titles of the Mughal emperor Alamgir II, with the characteristic long-tailed 'Wa' letterform — a hallmark of Mughal hammered rupee coinage — extending prominently through the field. Scattered pellet ornaments punctuate the inscriptions throughout the field, typical of the Bagalkot mint style. The flan is irregular in outline, consistent with hand-struck hammered production of the period.
