Transnistria issued commemorative rouble notes long before most breakaway states thought to try it, and the practice here is by now well-established — the Republican Bank has used small-denomination paper notes as a vehicle for anniversary issues since at least the mid-2000s. This 2024 piece marks three decades of the Transnistrian rouble, which replaced Soviet-era coupons in 1994 after the territory's currency arrangements had lurched through several improvised transitional phases following the 1992 war with Moldova.
At face value the note is essentially symbolic — one rouble buys nothing in Tiraspol.
